Nicolosi has been always considered “The Door of Etna”. The village, situated 702 meters above sea level, was initially a nursing home for the elderly ill monks. Many Romantic writers, like Alexandre Dumas and Goethe, during their itinerary took a break in this “small village placed beyond human inhabiteded world borders” (Dumas), which is nowadays one of the most characteristic places around the mountain, rich in history, culture and services for tourists. The “House Museum of Rural Life” is the starting point of all routes. Here you will find all relevant information to take on your route.
